High Premium for mediocre botched jobs
1
If I could give a 0 star rating, I would. I brought my car in with a stereo bought off newegg. Of course they aren't too helpful from the start and said they would charge a premium for their labour costs (since they didn't get the cut from selling an overpriced stereo bought from their store). They quoted me $186.xx for the job. I'm fine with that, cos hey, everybody's got bills to pay. After I pass them the installation map/manual, they went off to work. When it was done, I returned to my car to check on the job. I realised that they didn't install the aux jack.I returned to the store to ask why it isn't there. The guy Chris was curt and said that I didn't give them that specific instruction. My stereo came with an aux input, and which 2009 car stereo don't install that by default? Of course, they are the experts, who didn't know such specifics. They quoted me an extra 62.xx, to remove the deck and reinstalling it, since the aux jack would require that. I was furious, because I've already paid them 186 something dollars to install it, and to have some goodwill, they shouldn't quote me so much more for a botched installation.Chris didn't accept anything but insisting that I didn't give enough instructions about the aux jack. I pondered about bringing the car to another shop, but then realised that that shop would have the right to demand full labour costs, since they weren't responsible for this botched job.Somehow caught in a no-win situation, I ponied up the money to let them install the stereo. I tried to dispute the case with AMEX, and AMEX sent me a letter with Chris' plea. Of course, Chris told "his side of the story" with wonderful "It's not our fault", and that I was a willing party. It was a no-win situation on a botched job for me, and hey, I could not afford the time going from place to place just to install a car stereo and to fix a botched job by these bunch of jerks.Don't go there, unless you feel like being trapped and left with ponying up money to salvage their botched jobs.
